This one was built blind-first from the ground up. Hand Kade-AI a photo, a video, a PDF, a Word file, or a text file — from your phone's share menu or a big friendly button — and seconds later a page opens, describes it richly, and starts reading it out loud.
Not the same as a video call: this page is a one-time "here's a photo or video file, describe it" — you hand it something and get one description back. If you want a character to keep looking through your camera WHILE you talk — checking in automatically, live, and taking a fresh look every time you ask — that's video calls on an in-app voice call instead.
What you get
- Photos: a real description — who's in it, what they're wearing and doing, expressions, colors, lighting, what's in the background — and any words in the picture read out verbatim. Letters, signs, screenshots, receipts: it reads them word for word.
- Videos: what happens from start to finish, moment by moment, plus any on-screen text.
- PDFs, Word docs, and text files: a plain-language summary first — what is this, who's it from, what matters — then the full text, read aloud.
- Dates get noticed. If a document mentions an appointment or due date, you'll get a "Save reminder" button for each one — press it and it becomes a real reminder that nudges you the way you picked on Notifications & Reminders.
The page puts a big Play button first thing, starts reading automatically when your browser allows it, and has Stop and speed controls right there. Everything is labeled for screen readers.
The easiest way: right from the app
Open the account menu (top right) and choose Describe a Photo or Document — or go straight to kademurdock.com/describe. Press Choose a photo or document, pick from your camera roll or files, done.
iPhone app: send a photo or file straight to your companion (new September 3, 2026)
This is different from Describe, and it's the one most people want: from any app on your phone — Photos, Files, Mail, a webpage — press Share and choose Send to Kade-AI. Add a note if you like, press Post, then open Kade-AI: it opens a chat with your main companion with the file already attaching and your note typed in, and you press Send.
You press Send yourself on purpose. A share sheet should never be able to post into a conversation without a person deciding to — and for the same reason, the share sheet itself holds no login of its own. It hands the file to the app, and the app, already signed in as you, does the sending.
Describe (below) is the other one: that's for "what is this?" — it reads a photo or document back to you and keeps nothing.
iPhone website: put Describe in your share sheet (one-time setup)
Apple doesn't let websites appear in the iPhone share menu on their own, so there's a one-time trick using the Shortcuts app — about two minutes, and the Describe page walks you through it step by step with your own personal link. After that: any photo or PDF → Share → Describe with Kade-AI → the page opens and starts reading.
Your personal link on that page works like a password for descriptions on your account — don't post it anywhere public. If it ever leaks, tell Kade and she can rotate it.
Android: it just shows up
On Android, install Kade-AI to your home screen (Chrome menu → Add to Home Screen) and Kade-AI appears in the regular share menu by itself — share a photo to it like you'd share to Messages.
The honest fine print
- Cost: around a tenth of a cent per description — pocket lint, but it's on your Usage & Balance tab like everything else.
- Privacy: the file itself is described and thrown away within the hour — it's never saved to the site. (The description text stays on your screen until you leave the page.)
- Size limit: about 30 MB — photos and documents are always fine; a very long video might not fit.
